Which boy hasn’t dreamed of being a cool secret agent(特工)?The wonderful fighting and the world-saving adventures are much more colourful than most people’s everyday lives. Well, Cody Banks is just like any other boy, except that he is not just dreaming. He has a big secret his friends never know about. He was trained to be a spy(间谍) by a special CIA programme, which was made to look like a summer camp. He learned high-speed driving, hand-to-hand fighting and the use of high-tech tools.
After proving he could become a young hero by saving a baby from a runaway car, Banks gets his first real task(任务). He must make friends with a popular girl at school, Natalie Connors. Then, he must spy on(监视) her father, a scientist who has developed a dangerous technology. Banks must stop a group of bad people from forcing Natalie’s father into using the technology to endanger the world.
The CIA may have taught him first-class self-defence moves, but they didn’t show him how to talk to girls. Banks has zero ability when it comes to dealing with girls. How can he get around his problem and get an invitation to the girl’s upcoming birthday party? Will he finally become Natalie’s boyfriend and find out whatever he can about her father’s work?

What's your dream vacation? Watching wildlife in Kenya? Boating down the Amazon? Sunbathing in Malaysia? New chances are opening up all the time to explore the world. So we visit travel agents, compare packages and prices ,and pay our money.
We know what our vacation costs us. But do we know what it might cost someone else? It's true that many poorer countries now depend on tourism for foreign income. Unfortunately, though, tourism often harms the local people more than it helps them.
It might cost their homes and lands. In Myanmar, 5,200 people were forced to leave their homes among the pagodas(佛塔)in Bagan so that tourists could visit the pagodas.
Tourism might also cost the local people their livelihood(生计) and dignity(尊严). Local workers often find only jobs with slim salaries in the tourist industry. And most of the profits(利润) do not help the local economy. Instead, profits return to the tour operators in wealthier countries, When the Maasai people in Tanzania were driven(驱赶) from their lands, some moved to city slums. Others now make a little money selling souvenirs or posing(摆姿势) for photos.
Problems like these were observed more than 20 years ago. But now some non-government organizations, tour operators and local governments are working together to begin correcting them. Tourists, too, are putting on the pressure.
The result is responsible tourism, or “ethical tourism.” Ethical tourism has people at its heart. New international agreements and codes of conduct(行为准则)can help protect the people's lands, homes, economies and cultures. The beginnings are small, though, and the problems are complex.
Buttake heart. The good news is that everyone, including us, can play a part to help the local people in the places we visit. Tour operators and companies can help by making sure that local people work in good conditions and earn reasonable wages.
They can make it a point to use only locally owned hotel, restaurants and guide services. They can share profits fairly to help the local economy. And they can involve the local people in planning and managing tourism.
What can tourists do? First, we can ask tour companies to provide information about the conditions of local citizens. We can then make our choices and tell them why. And while we're abroad, we can:
Buy local foods and products, not imported ones.
Pay a fair price for goods and services and not bargain for the cheapest price.
              Avoid flaunting wealth.
Ask before taking photographs of people. They are not just part of the landscape!
Let's enjoy our vacation and make sure others do, too.
              29. What is probably the best title for the article?
              A. Tourism Causes Bad Effects. B. Vacations Cost More Than You Think
              C. Vacations Bring a Lot of Fun. D. Tourism Calls for Good Behavior.

Researchers found animals lovers exercise their pet twice a day for 24 minutes each time --- a total of five hours and 36 minutes a week. On top of that, the average dog owner also takes part pet out to take three long walks each week adding another two hours and 33 minutes to the total. But those without a dog spend an average of just one hour and 20 minutes per week exercising by going to the gym or heading out for a walk or jog. And almost half of non-pet owners admit they take no exercise.
A spokesperson said the difference between the two was that going to the gym can feel like a boring task while dog-walking can be far more enjoyable. “Having a couple of short walks every day soon adds up and this research shows that it amounts to more time than people spend in the gym,” he said. And gym goers exercise inside an air-conditioned gym, while dog walkers are able to jog for miles and enjoy fresh air when admiring the Great British countryside.”
The study of 5,000 people, including 3,000 dog owners, showed that 57 percent of those considered walking the dog as their main form of exercise. More three quarters said they would rather take their dog for a walk than go to the gym. A total of 86 percent said they enjoyed taking their pet out each day, with just 22 percent saying they sometimes saw it as a boring task. But only 16 percent of respondent said they enjoyed exercising in the gym, while almost 70 percent considered it a boring task.
The survey shows that having a dog to walk actually encourages regular exercise, with 60 percent of pet owners saying they always go for a walk with their dog --- even when time is precious(宝贵的)。
              33. What is the main idea of this passage?
A People without a pet usually go to the gym
              B. Pet owners spend no time exercising in the gym
              C. Dog owners usually get more exercise than gym goers
  4. People do exercise either by walking a dog or going to the gym
    34. According to the study, on average each week dog owners walk their dog for _____.
    1. one hour and 20 minutes B. five hours and 36 minutes

C. two hours and 36 minutes D. eight hours and 9 minutes

35. The writer mentioned what the spokesperson said in Paragraph 2 mainly to show that _____.

A. walking a dog can be tiring sometimes

B. walking a dog is more enjoyable than exercising in the gym

C. people prefer to exercise in the gym rather than walk a dog

It’s hard to adjust to(适应) attending a new school. Everything seems new. Making new friends can be hard too because people seem to have formed their own group. The following are some ways to help you make friends at a new school.

Make sure you are kind to whoever you meet at the new school._36___ If you think that you will say something that will offend(冒犯,得罪)them, do not say anything and just nod your head if they talk to you.

38Anywhere, in the bathroom, near your locker, or at the water fountain, you can find someone that has something in common with you. All you need is to know how to approach them. Give a smile or say hi. Introduce yourself. Tell them your name and where you’re from. You never know where you can find a nice friend.

39You can take part in a sports club, an art club or a foreign language learning club. Even if you don’t know anyone there, you’ll all share a common interest, and you can experience people with different personalities from yours that have the same interest.

Figure out who the “mean girls” or the hot-headed jocks”(鲁莽、急躁的肌肉男) are. 40__ But don’t be mean to them and don’t completely avoid them because they may be nice people. Also stay away from people who are in gangs and do criminal activities.

书面表达

Dear Tom,

How time flies! It is one year since you came to study Chinese in our school. In the past year, you have helped us a lot, without which we couldn’t have made great progress in English. During this year, we have learned lots of cultures about your country that cannot be found in the book.

Before you leave, many classmates and I intend to hold a farewell party for you, hoping that you can remember the wonderful time we spent together. By the way, the party will be held in our classroom from 3:pm to 5:pm on December 30.

May you have a pleasant journey home and welcome to China again.

We are looking forward to your coming.

Yours sincerely,

LiHua
