In recent years advances in medical technology have made it possible for people to live longer than in the past. New medicines and machines are being developed every day to extend life. However, some people, including some doctors, are not in favor of these life extending measures, and they argue that people should have the right to die when they want. They say that the quality of life is as important as life itself, and that people should not be forced to go on living when conditions of life have become unbearable. They say that people should be allowed to die with dignity and to decide when they want to die. Others argue that life under any conditions is better than death and that the duty of doctors is always to extend life as long and possible. And so the battle goes on without a definite answer.
C. The Doctors’ duty D. Life is better than death
C. good doctors D. both B and C
C. neither death nor life D. none of the above

American music legend Bob Dylan on Thursday won the Nobel Literature Prize, the first songwriter to win the greatly respected award and an announcement that surprised prize watchers.
Dylan, 75, was honored ‘for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition,’ the Swedish Academy said. The choice was met with astonishment and a long round of applause from journalists attending the prize announcement. The folk singer has been mentioned in Nobel prediction in past years, but was never seen as a serious competitor.
The Academy’s permanent secretary Sara Danius said Dylan’s songs were ‘poetry for the ears.’
The Nobel award is the latest accolade for a singer who has come a long way from his humble(卑微的)beginnings as Robert Allen Zimmerman, born in 1941 in Duluth, Minnesota, who taught himself to play the harmonica, guitar and piano.
Last year, the prize went to Belarussian author Svetlana Alexievich, for her documentary-style narratives based on witness testimonies(证言).
Dylan will take home the eight million kronor($906,000 or 822,000 euros) prize sum.
The literature award caps the 2016 Nobel season, following more than a week of announcements for the prizes for medicine, physics, chemistry, economics and peace, with the latter going to Colombia’s President Juan Manuel Santos for his efforts to end a half-century war with the FARC rebels.
The 2016 winners will receive their awards---a gold medal and a diploma --- at a formal ceremony in Stockholm as tradition dictates(指定) on December 10, the anniversary of the death of prize creator Alfred Nobel.
A separate ceremony is held in Oslo for the peace prize winner on the same day, as the Norwegian Nobel Committee grants that award.
A.He is a pop singer. B. He was taught to play some musical instruments.
C. He is a friend of Svetlana Alexievich. D. The songs he has created are in fact like poems.
C. The Nobel Prize for Economics D. The Nobel Prize for Peace

Twenty years ago, Oliver’s back injury ruined her childhood dream of becoming a ballet dancer. But the injury led her to Taichi when Oliver saw a poster for a Taichi class and decided to try the mysterious Chinese sport."I was active and could not bear resting in bed and I thought I had to find some way to recover," she recalls.
She was struck by the beautiful movements and the"nice, patient instructor―Nelson", who later became her husband. The couple opened a Taichi school in the UK. But they soon found themselves in a bottleneck. So the couple decided to move to China. They taught English in universities and learned Taichi under various masters. After years of practice, Oliver found her occasional backaches had disappeared.
But three years after moving to China to pursue their dream, Nelson died, bringing her much pain. She thought of quitting, but considering the career in which her husband took pride, she stuck to it. She says her Taichi"family" — the masters and students — also provided great support, including her then tutor Dong Bing.
She speaks of their first meeting:"I had been told that his skill was of a very high level and for some reason I had a mental image of a powerful, big man. But my fellow pointed to a small, thin old gentleman, sitting on the ground. Then a sudden feeling of pleasure hit me. Of course this was exactly the kind of person who would be a Taichi master — the last person you could imagine. His idea is that one should not pursue wealth and fame but should endeavor to be happy and share one’s knowledge and wisdom with others."
Following the master, Oliver now learns to live a simple life — one perhaps more traditional than many Chinese. She does Taichi in the morning , makes kungfu tea for guests and draws ink-wash bamboo paintings. She spends her time outside Taichi attending cultural exchange events.
32. Why did Oliver decide to try Taichi?
C. She wanted to continue her dream. D. She wanted to recover.
33. What is the true cause leading the couple to China?
C. Developing their career in China. D. Being invited to teach English in China.
34. What made Oliver keep playing Taichi?
C. Her fellow’s encouragement D. Nelson’s pride in Taichi
35. What’s Oliver’s attitude towards Dong Bing?
第二节 (共5小题: 每小题2分,满分10分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。
Every single human being on this planet has a path and purpose to fulfill, whether they realize it or not. 36
List what you love and connect the dots. 37 It may not make sense at first, but all of the things you enjoy doing are part of your path in one form or another, so grab a pen and a piece of paper and start writing. Once you have your list, take a step back and see how all these brilliant pieces might connect to the work you are meant to do.
Identify what you do with ease. Often our passion and purpose are staring us right in the face, but it’s so natural to us that we don’t think anything about it. 38 Just because they are easy for you doesn’t mean that’s the case for everyone else. By identifying what comes naturally to you, you have the ability to build on your strengths and help others in ways you never thought possible.
_ 39 Finding your passion is directly related to doing the things that light you up and set your soul on fire. If you love to teach, run, and host live events, then please, do them all! Who says your life purpose has to be just one thing? You are meant to experience life and all that it has offered.
Ask others to help. If you are still feeling stuck in finding your passion and purpose in life, it might be time to ask others for help. It can be difficult for you to see where you truly shine because you are simply too close to connecting the dots on your own. Friends, family members and professionals have a view that you don’t. 40
