Being the Social Media Marketing Intern(实习生) at Experience has taught me more than I could have imagined. Here are some of the most important things I have learned.
Im not alone. Coming into this position, I felt that I had no idea where my future was going. I lacked confidence about what I could do and what I am really good at. My internship has surely given me a better understanding of my skill set and where my career may take me. But most importantly, I’ve come to learn that I am not alone. This job has taught me that almost everybody is in my position. Very few college students know what they want to do, and it is something that is simply not worth worrying about.
Whether to keep writing. This means a lot to me. I have always enjoyed writing, and I always felt I was pretty good at it. However, what this position has taught me is that I didnt really have the writing skills IthoughtIhad.Writing takes practice and I was not practicing enough. Writing for the web and writing the research paper could not be more different. I had to learn to get used to a new way of writing.
How to behave in the office. Since this is my first position in an office environment, Ididnt know exactly what to expect. The environment here at Experience is quite relaxing, yet it taught me how to behave in the workplace. Simply working in the office and getting used to everything here have surely prepared me for whatever my next position may be. Just observing the everyday events has taught me more about teamwork, and how people can come together to get things done.
How to build my resume(简历). As I said, this internship has improved my skills a lot, both off paper and on paper. Ididnt realize it all at once, but this position served as not only a positive learning experience, but also a resume builder.
    56. According to Paragraph 2, what did the author learn at Experience?
    A. He wasnt the only intern there.
    B. He is often helped when he needs help.
    C. His position is very popular with interns.
    D. Most college students dont know what they want to do.
    57. What did the author find about writing for the web and writing his research paper?
    A. The first was much more difficult.
    B. The two had something in common.
    C. The two were really different.
    D. Both were the authors strengths.
    58. What did the author realize through observing the everyday events?
    A. Its easy to get things done.
    B. Teamwork is very important.
    C. Working hard is very important.
    D. A relaxing environment is more helpful.
    59. According to the last paragraph, what benefit did the author get from his internship?
    1. He learnt what to write on his resume.
      B. He learnt how to live positively.
      C. He knew how to write a good research paper.
      D. He knew what a company needs
      60. What would be the best title of the text?
      A. My life as an intern.
      B. Lessons from my internship.
      C. Things to know before internship.
      D. Tips on how to be a good intern.

      C
Texting long messages can be a pain in the neck. The repetitive action of working your fingers across the keyboard of your cell phone can cause some of the same chronic (慢性的) pain problems previously limited to those who’d spent a lifetime typing.
The possible connection is particularly worrying, considering how much teens and young adults — and increasingly those in professional settings — are texting nowadays, said Judith Gold, who carried out one of the first studies on the potential connection.
Text messaging is a fairly new technology, Gold says, so this is a new area of research for those who study ergonomics (人类工程学). But “considering the similarities in body position, findings from research on overuse injuries from computers could be applicable to texting.”
“The way the body is positioned for texting – fixed shoulders and with rapidly moving fingers – is similar to the position for typing on a computer,” Gold explained. Previous research has found pain in the elbow connected with too much thumb texting.
To look for a broader link between texting and chronic pain, Gold and her colleagues sent a questionnaire to 138 college students, asking them to report the number of text messages they sent per day (in four categories: 0, 1-10, 11-20, 21+ messages) and to point out any discomfort they felt on a body map.
The research showed an association between the number of text messages sent per day and shoulder discomfort. The effect seemed to be particularly pronounced in males, though Gold says she doesn’t know whythat would be.
“What we’ve seen so far is very similar to what we see with office workers who’ve spent most of their time at a computer,” Gold said. However, Gold’s study did not take account of the amount of time the people surveyed also spent typing on computers, which could be affecting the results.
61.In the past, who usually suffered from a pain in the neck according to the passage?
      1. A writer B. A typist C. AteacherD. A doctor

65. In which column in the newspaper can you find the passage?

A. Fashion B. Education C. Health D. Entertainment

D

It’s essential for parents to teach their kids financial responsibility and that money should be earned.Still many child-development experts agree that tying a childs allowance to chores (家务劳动) can be a slippery slope. Heres why.

Susie Walton, master instructor at Peace in Your Home advises to keep chores and allowances totally separate. Allowance is one thing. When it comes to chores, life skills, responsibilities----thats a whole different thing, says Walton.

Walton says, When kids arent doing a chore, you dont say, Well, there goes your allowance.Youre going to sit them down and ask whats going on. Were a team. Were a family. Weve got to have them done.’”

Besides, by paying children for chores with an allowance, youll also be sending the message that work isnt worth doing unless theyre getting paid for it.

There are times when it would make sense to pay kids for chores. Most financial and child-development experts agree that its a fine idea to pay children money for extra jobs that are outside their normal set of chores, such as washing windows, washing the car or helping to clean out the garage----especially if the child is saving for a big item. This may even develop an entrepreneurial (企业家的) spirit to think outside of the box to earn money.

For parents who are concerned that their children wont learn the value of a dollar if the allowance isnt tied to household chores, note that there are still plenty of money management skills to be learned from a straight allowance. Depending on the age, kids can be made responsible for paying for their own toys or snacks. Some parents even require that kids set aside a percentage of their allowance towards savings.

I really like having my own money, says Kevin, 9. Its up to me if I want to buy the cheap toy now, or save and get the better toy. And thats a good lesson to learn at 9 years old.

No matter which allowance route you take in parenthood, kids will feel empowered by being able to handle their own money.

  1. Which of the following would Susie Walton probably agree with?
  1. Kids should be paid for doing chores all the time.
  2. Kids shouldnt be forced to do chores at home.
  3. Doing chores teaches kids the value of work.
  4. A childs allowance shouldnt be tied to chores.
  1. According to Susie Walton, if kids dont do chores, parents should ____.
  1. teach them the entrepreneurial spirit
  2. talk to them about family responsibilities
  3. give them a smaller allowance than usual
  4. punish them by not giving them allowance
  1. In Para. 6, a straight allowance probably means ____.
  1. money earned by kids themselves by doing part-time jobs
  2. money given by charity organizations
  3. money given by parents and not dependent on chores
  4. money earned by doing everyday chores
  1. What is the authors attitude towards Kevins action?
  1. Approving.B.Worried.

C. Doubtful.D. Unfavorable.

  1. The text is mainly about ____.
  1. the importance of kids helping parents with chores
  2. parents should give kids regular allowances
  3. the advantages of kids handling their own money
  4. whether parents should pay kids for chores

II卷 (共40分)

第四部分:写作(共节,满分40分)

第一节: 阅读表达(满分10分)

阅读下面短文,按照要求完成阅读任务。

Volunteering takes up our time, energy, and sometimes money. It can be hard work. It can find us doing and seeing new things, which can be challenging and even a little scary. So why does anyone even go there?

On the one hand, volunteering is good for others. The world is not a perfect place, and many people, animals, places, and communities need help. Governments and professionals try to meet everyone’s needs, but it’s impossible for them to do it all. This is why people become volunteers: they can make a difference where someone or something needs help. If people never help each other and only care about themselves, the world becomes a crueler, sadder place. But when we volunteer our time, money or talents, we help to make our planet a better, happier home where people cooperateto make life easier for all.

Actually, volunteers and volunteer groups can do many things. They can bring food to hungry people; they can find homes or clothes for those who need them; they can protect wildlife and natural areas; they can bring comfort and happiness to lonely people; and they can help people learn to read or do better in school.

On the other hand, volunteering is good for you. Are you thinking,“What’s in it for me?”The answer is, plenty! Here are some of the things you might get in return for your giving. You may make new friends; you may gain important skills and experience that will help you later in life; you may make connections that can lead to a job or career; you may have fun. And most importantly, you may feel like you are part of a community!

Hey…it looks like being a volunteer gives as much good stuff to you as it does to the people, places, or animals you’re trying to help! That’s the secret of volunteering. People who become volunteers usually lead richer, happier, and more satisfying lives than those who don’t volunteer.

Dear John,

How’s it going? I’m happy to learn that you are planning to come to China to study.I’ve just received your letter, and I am very happy to learn that you are planning to come to China to study.

What you heard about our schooling in the past is true. We used to have a lot of homework every day, even on weekends and holidays. Having endless exams was another characteristic of our schooling. However, great changes have taken place since China’s promotion of quality education. Now we are the master of study, and our school life is getting increasingly colorful and interesting. In class, we are active in discussing and solving problems. Sometimes one of the students is asked to teach other students. I love this kind of teaching method, which makes me feel I am a brilliant student. After class, we enjoy a variety of activities, such as dancing, making speeches, and joining in English Corner. As far as I know, everyone is happy with the learning and living atmosphere in our school, where we can not only gain more knowledge easily but also relax ourselves physically and mentally.

I’m looking forward to your coming to our school to study. I’m sure that you will soon like it and we will become very close friends.

Yours,

Lihua
