Spanish is one of the most spoken languages in the world with 21countries listing it as their official language. Considering total costs, quality of the schools, local life and the local accent, below are the best countries except Spain to learn Spanish efficiently.
    Bolivia——Beginner Levels
Bolivians are regarded as having the clearest Spanish accent. The country’s capital Sucre is the best option and offers cheap living—around $15 a day would get you accommodation and food—with all of the schools there offering small class sizes and quality instruction amongst the white washed buildings of one of the continent’s most beautiful and relaxing cities.
    Peru——Beginner and Intermediate(中等的)Levels
While all Spanish-speaking countries have their own unique slang(俚语), Peruvians don’t use this half as much and speak more slowly than most other Spanish—speaking countries. Tie this with a wealth of affordable options from the big city of Lima, the relaxing historic city of Cusco, or near the beach in Trujillo, and Peru certainly becomes one of the best options.
    Colombia——Intermediate and Advanced Levels
Emerging(出现)as a favorite for travelers in South America, Colombia also offers top quality language schools at affordable prices. The accent is also one of the clearest you will find, giving you plenty of opportunities to mix with the colorful and hospitable(好客的)locals who are gaining a reputation as some of the world’s most friendly people.
    Argentina——Intermediate and Advanced Levels
Argentines in and around Buenos Aires speak Spanish with an Italian accent, and Spanish of this region is actually closer to Neapolitan Italian than any other accent in the world. A good reason to choose Buenos Aires in particular is the quality of the schools, the low cost of living, and the atmosphere of the great city that it has become known to be.
    21. Which of the following is NOT Bolivia’s advantage for Spanish beginners?
    1. Bolivians have the clearest Spanish accent.
    2. Sucre offers cheap accommodation and food.
    3. It has small class sizes and quality instruction.
    4. Its cities are the most beautiful and relaxing.

22. What is the similar aspect between Peru and Columbia?

  1. The affordable prices. B. Less unique slang.

C. The top quality schools. D. The clearest accent.

23. What is the probable reason that you don’t choose to study in Buenos Aires?

  1. Living there costs a lot more money.
  2. People there have an Italian accent.
  3. It has no schools of high quality.
  4. It’s hard to fit its atmosphere.

24. If you’d like to mix with the local people, which country would you choose most probably?

  1. Bolivia. B. Peru. C. Colombia. D. Argentina.
    B
Traffic jams in many cities around the world are a serious problem. In my point of view, it is not easy to solve this problem, but it is a problem that should be solved.
One possible solution to this problem is to impose heavy taxes on car drivers and use this money to make public transport better. One of the benefits of such a measure is that the heavy taxes would discourage car owners from using their cars because it would become very expensive to drive. This would mean that they would begin to make use of public transport instead, thus reducing traffic problems and pollution as well. Another benefit would be that more money can be used to improve public transport. It is often the case that public transport in cities is very poor. For example, we often see old buses and trains that people would rather not use. High taxes would lead to enough money to make the necessary changes.
However, there are drawbacks to such a solution.First, this would be a heavy burden on the car drivers. At present, taxes are already high for a lot of people. Therefore, further taxes would only mean less money at the end of the month for most people who may have no choice but to drive every day. Besides, this type of tax would likely be set at a fixed amount. This would mean that it would hit those with less money harder, while the rich could still afford it. It is therefore not a fair tax.
To conclude, this solution is worth considering to improve today’s situation, but there are advantages and disadvantages of introducing such a policy.
    25. In the author’s opinion, imposing heavy taxes on car drivers______.
    A. is the best way to prevent traffic jams
    B. means public transport should be good first
    C. means imposing lower taxes on other things
    D. can encourage car drivers to use the car less often
    26. What does the underlined word “drawbacks” in Paragraph 3 mean?
    A. Rules. B. Disadvantages. C. Methods. D. Rewards.
    27. What is the text mainly about?
    A. A solution to traffic jams.
    B. Heavy taxes on car drivers.
    C. Traffic jams around the world.
    D. Public transport around the world.
    C
Since we are social beings, the quality of our lives depends in large measure on our interpersonal relationships. One strength of the human condition is our possibility to give and receive support from one another under stressful conditions. Social support makes up of the exchange of resources among people based on their interpersonal ties. Those of us with strong support systems appear better able to deal with major life changes and daily hassles. People with strong social ties live longer and have better health than those without such ties. Studies over types of illnesses, from depression to heart disease, show that the presence of social support helps people defend themselves against illness, and the absence of such support makes poor health more likely.
Social support cushions stress in a number of ways. First, friends, relatives and co-workers may let us know that they value us. Our self-respect is strengthened when we feel accepted by others in spite of our faults and difficulties. Second, other people often provide us with informational support. They help us to define and understand our problems and find solutions to them. Third, we typically find social companionship supportive. Taking part in free-time activities with others helps us to meet our social needs while at the same time distracting us from our worries and troubles. Finally, other people may give us instrumental support, money aid, material resources, and needed services—that reduces stress by helping us resolve and cope with our problems.
    28. Interpersonal relationships are important because_____________.
    A. they can cure a range of illnesses such as heart disease, etc
    B. they are indispensable to people’s social well-being
    C. they awaken people’s desire to exchange resources
    D. they help people to cope with life in the information era
    29. Research shows that people's physical and mental health__________.
    A. relies on the social welfare systems which support them
    B. is closely related to their strength for coping with major changes in their lives
    C. has much to do with the amount of support they get from others
    D. depends on their ability to deal with daily worries and troubles
    30. Helping a sick neighbor with some repair work is an example of________.
    A. informational support B. instrumental support
    C. social companionship             D. the strengthening of self-respect
    31. Social companionship is beneficial in that_________.
    A. it draws our attention away from our worries and troubles
    B. it helps strengthen our ties with relatives
    C. it enables us to eliminate our faults and mistakes
    D. it makes our leisure-time activities more enjoyable
    D
Going green with information and communications technologies can be as simple as reusing a computer or smartphone. According to the IT and Environment Initiative, the “lifecycle energy use of a computer is controlled by production (80 percent) as opposed to operation (20 percent).”
When people resell, upgrade or offer a computer or smartphone to someone else for use, these strategies reduce energy influence, as well as other environmental burdens associated with manufacturing and clean. Because 75 percent of the fossil fuels and energy used by a computer are actually consumed during manufacturing. Extending the computer’s 1ifespan through reuse means more return on that initial environmental cost.
One of the easiest ways to reuse a computer or smartphone is to turn it over to your child or another relative. Any computer that’s less than five years old will easily have enough computing power to handle the IT requirements of the average student through the secondary level.
The first consideration is to remove all personal data from the device. If the computer was a household machine filled with harmless e-mails, then deleting the Internet browser’s cache(高速缓冲存储器),cookies and history as well as e-mail contacts, messages, documents and of course the rubbish files, may be enough. Most smartphones have a “reset the phone’’feature that returns the device to the original factory settings.
With the data removed, consider a few other issues.Mobile devices run on batteries and if your smartphone or computer is three years old, replace its battery before passing the equipment on. Some older laptops have very small hard drives. If the computer is to go to a teenager,a simple hard drive upgrade can add a lot of value.
Most smartphones have parental controls that turn certain features on or off.Determine how the device may be used before offering it to your child. And last, but oh,so important!
    32. What’s the purpose of Paragraph 1 ?
    A. To prove the author’s viewpoint.
  2. To introduce the topic of the text.
  3. To introduce what the author’s thinking.
  4. To tell what people need to do.

33. Nowadays people may recycle computers and smartphones for children because__________.

A. using second-hand machines is friendly to the environment

B. there aren’t enough computers and smartphones for children to use now

C. it's safer for children to surf the Internet and communicate with others

D. computers and smanphones are becoming more and more expensive for people

34. What can we infer from the text?

A. Updating a computer is quite expensive.

B. Reusing material can help protect the environment.

C. Children like to use second-hand smartphones.

D. Parents shouldn’t buy computers for their children.

35. What’s the best title of this text?

Body language is a powerful communication system in all cultures, but it can signal very different things in different cultures and different countries.

It is used by curling the index finger over the thumb and the remaining fingers extended above them. ____36____ Also, this sign is usually used by divers to indicate all is well. In Germany it may mean a job well done. ____37____In New Zealand, this sign is not used much and considered a cheap way of saying OK. And in France, the gesture means worthless or zero.

_____38____ But body language is often even more powerful than it. People around the world show all kinds of feelings, wishes and attitudes that they might never speak aloud. Making a fist and shaking it almost means that someone is angry and threatening another person. ____39____ Nodding the head up and down is used for agreement almost worldwide. And most people also understand that shaking the head from side to side means disagreement or refusal. Of course, body language can be misread, but many gestures and actions are universal.

The most universal facial expression is the smile——its function is to show happiness and put people at ease. It doesn’t always mean that we are truly happy, however. Smiles around the world can be false, hiding other feelings like anger, fear or worry. _____40_____

With so many cultural differences between people, it is great to have some similarities in body language.

A. Frowning and turning one’s back to someone shows anger.

B. So, think it over before you smile in some foreign countries.

C. However, in Turkey, the OK sign means one is a homosexual.

D. It is mostly considered as a good gesture.

E. Spoken language is a useful and powerful tool of communication.

F. However, the general purpose of smiling is to show good feelings.

My Dream Classroom

The classroom is another home where we spend most of our daytime. It should be a comfortable and relaxing place full of inspiration and encouragement for us to enjoy our school life to the fullest.

In my dream classroom, I hope to see green plants and pleasant decorations. Of course I would appreciate it if I could be allowed to decorate my own desk. When it comes to the study atmosphere of the classroom, I prefer a culture corner so that we can share our books or exchange our opinion during our spare time. Besides, some inspiring mottos inside can motivate us to get ahead.
